FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: STUDENT EXHIBITION ENTRY FORM

How do I enter group projects?
If there was a group leader, the project should be entered by the leader. If all team members participated equally, enter "Group" as the first name and "Project" as the last name. Then enter all participants names under the appropriate titles. Multiple names are allowed (please separate names with commas).

What do I enter for "Student ID"?
You must enter the 8-digit number on your student identification card. Do not use your login, email or social security number.

What do I enter for "home town"?
Most students prefer to enter the town they were born in or grew up in as a matter of pride. However you may use the town you currently live in if you prefer.

Why do you need my "Zip Code"?
We are asking for a zip code for your current address because we want to send out Merit press releases on your behalf indicating that your work has been accepted into an art gallery exhibit.

How do I choose "type of entry"?
"Editorial" describes magazines or newsletters (both layouts and covers) that are not advertising oriented. "Self promotion" applies to personal portfolio websites, mailers, resume packages and other self-promotion pieces (do NOT use the "self promotion" category for projects without clients). If you choose "other..." you must also enter something in the field below.

What if I don't have a "client"?
Even if the client was a "made up" client, please enter the name of the client. If the client was yourself, enter your name (not "self"). The client is not the name of the class or the name of your instructor. If there was no client, leave field blank.

What if I don't know the name of the photographer?
If you used stock photography, please enter "stock." If you used copyrighted images in your work, you must obtain permission from the photographer. If you are unable to obtain permission, you may not enter the work. Multiple names are allowed (please separate names with commas).

What if I don't know the name of the illustrator?
If you used stock illustration, please enter "stock." If you created the illustration yourself, enter your name (not "self"). Multiple names are allowed (please separate names with commas).

What do I enter under "animator"?
If you are the animator, enter your name (not "self"). Multiple names are allowed (please separate names with commas).

What if I don't know the name of the copywriter?
Leave blank if there is no copy visible. You may also leave this field blank if the copy is supplied by the client.

What do I enter under "music"?
Leave blank unless this is a motion graphics entry. If you used copyrighted music in your work, you must obtain permission from the composer. If you are unable to obtain permission, you may not enter the work. Multiple names are allowed (please separate names with commas).

What is my URL?
URLs or "web addresses" are not applicable to print entries. If you're entering a digital media entry (website, animation, motion graphics), please include the published URL for the entry (a link to your project on the "GDS student server" is sufficient).
