SUBJECT: Parkland Art Gallery Website Proposal
DATE: September 3, 2009
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to offer some recommendations for a new website design for use by the Parkland Art Gallery. The following is a summary of the objectives for this project.
- BACKGROUND: The Parkland Art Gallery, located inside of Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois was established in 1981 as a teaching gallery for the students of the college and the community of Champaign-Urbana. All events at the gallery are free to the public. Exhibits at the gallery are selected to show a wide range of work, by known as well as new artists of regional and national status. The gallery has an annual show of work by the Parkland College faculty as well as two juried shows of work by Parkland students. The Parkland Art Gallery endeavors to promote the development of artists’ talent and awareness while expanding the audience’s appreciation of various works of art.
- TARGET AUDIENCE: The target audience of this website spans over a wide demographic as far as gender, race, age and social standing are concerned. Its target audience is creative people of who enjoying going out to events and seeing new and contemporary art. The Gallery wants to attract all people in the community to come and experience new shows and works.
- CHARACTER OF THE WEBSITE: The overall goal of this proposal is to allow easy updating and navigation while remaining sophisticated, professional, simple, elegant and clean. The design should be compatible with contemporary art and be sophisticated as well as classic. The website should be energetic enough to grab attention but not be so trendy that it will become dated quickly. The colors should aim to be comfortable and definitely steer clear of the branding college colors green and gold.
- APPLICATION: The website will be published for the community to find information about shows and visiting the gallery. The site will be search engine friendly and can be found by Google. There will also be a link from the Parkland College website to the Gallery site.
