Dreamweaver Seminar

Emphasis

 

 

Through hands-on exercises and demos, students will be introduced to Dreamweaver's web site development tools. Design and technical issues related to web site design and publishing will also be covered. All students will be publishing their work on the web for the world to see.

No prior Dreamweaver knowledge is required, although a comfort level with personal computers is expected.

  • Introduction to XHTML, web standards
  • Layers, tables, margins, padding
  • Web typography
  • CSS (Cascading Style Sheets)
  • Images, backgrounds, tiling
  • Javascript
  • Publishing, testing, file management
  • Templates, advanced search/replace
  • Optional: introduction to Flash
  • Not covered: frames, forms, accessibility issues, server technology, database integration, web programming

The following materials are recommended to succeed in the workshop:

 

Macs vs. PCs

 

Although web design can be done a Macintosh, almost all web development is done on a Windows computer. The reason is simple: web sites look different in different browsers and over 87% of the world is browsing the web on a PC.

Macintosh and Windows computers are almost identical once you are inside an application. However pay attention to the following keyboard equivalents:

Windows alt ctrl (example: ctrl+S)
Mac opt cmd (example: cmd+S)
