Hometown: Farmer City IL How does it feel to be a professional designer: Pretty good. I still can’t afford that Jaguar though. How do you like your job: I like the fact that every project can be approached in very different ways. I can work on a psychology book cover one day, and the next, logo work for a multi tap beer dispenser. How did you get this job: My Parkland illustration teacher was working at PG at the time and she offered me an internship as an illustrator. Later, I transitioned to the design department and have been designing ever since. What was the most exciting project you've worked on since graduation: My latest project has been the most interesting. I redesigned PG’s portfolio booklet and developed a fresh set of marketing materials including postcards, CD’s, trigger cases, and web design. What were some of the most important things you learned while at Parkland: Software skills. Using the vast amount of source materials that exist and other designers and as reference. I can’t always reinvent the wheel. Who is your favorite designer and why: I’m more a fan of Juxtapoz What is your favorite typeface and why: I’m still a fan of grunge fonts and distressed letter forms. Web link: www.mattfreden.com
