How does it feel to be a professional designer: I love it, it's a unique occupation that gives you the opportunity to touch people's lives on any given day.

How do you like your job: I do have a sense of pride in my current position, we have the ability to help people in their worst of times and that is pretty rewarding.

How did you get this job: It was a fairly rigorous process but after three different rounds of interviews and countless portfolio reviews I was hired.

What was the most exciting project you've worked on since graduation: I recently had the pleasure of designing the graphics package for the Pediatric Transport Vehicle here at Carle. Pretty awesome!

What do you wish you would have done differently when you were at Parkland: I probably should've worked harder in typography. In my experience it is the make/break point for most portfolios and most interviewers immediately judge applicants on how well they handle their type.

What were some of the most important things you learned while at Parkland: Work hard, be nice.

Who is your favorite designer and why: Aaron Draplin. He has a great work ethic and a fantastic aesthetic that reads deceptively simple. And he's a riot in his interviews and talks.

What is your favorite typeface and why: It's gotta be Futura. It's just a great, hardworking font that is suitable for a multitude of projects. Although, anything from Hoefler&Co is fantastic too!
